1.5.54 and .56- New Main Menu, Improved Plus Menu, Better Notification Control, and more

We submitted a new version of Gluroo (1.5.54 [iOS] and 1.5.56 [Android]) to the App & Play stores; it should be available soon on both iOS for iPhones and iPads and Android. This version fixes many bugs and has some significant layout changes of the UX. Changes and new features include:

  • The “hamburger” stacked dashes menu is now in the more traditional location on the top left.  It opens a cleaner-looking, more native-feeling menu.  This also makes the header feel a bit less cluttered.
  • The bottom-left plus (+) menu now provides a back button (“<“) to return to the plus menu after you’ve selected an action.
  • iOS reading-update Notifications now can be long pressed to open up a chart in the expanded view of the notification.
  • iOS notification expanded view now has an action button linking to the location to configure that notification channel (mimicking what the Android phones already do at the system level when you long-press a notification).
  • The search button has moved down to the bottom entry controls, and the text box in those controls expands (removing some buttons) once it gets focus to make entering text easier.
  • The photo view from a message with an image (tapping on the image) now works better, can be full screen, and can show/hide the meta information.
  • There are more careful warnings and explanations regarding notification settings.
  • iOS Contact creation is way more robust with better explanations and error checking. A background process now tries to clear an old BGL reading from a watch contact when possible.
  • iOS Calendar creation now allows adding BGL to an existing calendar and is also more robust with more explanations.
  • Smoother animations, especially on Android
  • Photo code scanner supports scanning Libre sensors, and now show an overlay tracking the barcode locations in the preview.  We use a whole new camera component, so there could be regressions here.
  • Editing meal messages without macronutrients now brings up the meal action tray instead of the nutrition editor.  This is still a work in progress.
