My Wear OS Watch Face is showing an old CGM Reading of my Blood Sugar?

The new WFF watch faces give up control of exactly when a complication is allowed to update its presentation to the Wear OS platform. This is done by Google/Samsung in the name of improved energy efficiency for longer battery life. That means you might sometimes be seeing a stale reading, an old reading, or a not updated reading.

We’re still piecing together how this works (Wear OS, unlike Android, is closed-source) but it seems that tapping on the complication slots to open the Gluroo app on the watch helps demonstrate interest in the complication and makes the watch update that slot more frequently.

It may also be the case that text complications (e.g., not the big graphical BGL but the plain text blood sugar) may refresh more frequently.

We’re working on improvements on the display of the age of a reading and remind you to only use the 1st-party device directly connected to the CGM when making dosing or other medical decisions.
