This guide walks you through getting Dexcom G7 glucose readings into Gluroo and what to check if data stops flowing. For treatment decisions, always rely on the primary Dexcom G7 app—not Follow, and not Gluroo.
Setup: Connect Dexcom G6/G7 to Gluroo
- Turn on Share and invite at least one Follower
Open the Dexcom G6/G7 app > Connections > Share and follow the prompts. Make sure Share is enabled and you’ve added at least one Follower (Dexcom supports up to 10). This confirms Share is active and sending data to Dexcom’s cloud. - Link Dexcom in Gluroo
In Gluroo > Menu > Settings > CGM, select Dexcom G6 or G7, then enter the same Dexcom account information used in the G6/G7 app.- Parents/caregivers: use the child’s (Sharer’s) Dexcom login, not your Follower login. (Followers are separate accounts for the Follow app.)
- Confirm your Dexcom User ID (if unsure)
Your Dexcom User ID can be a username, email, or mobile number depending on how/when you created your account. If your User ID is your phone number, enter the number with country code. You can also check your Dexcom username in the Dexcom app’s Account Details screen (Profile > Account). - Wait a few minutes for data
After tapping Connect, allow a few minutes (up to ~10) for readings to appear in Gluroo. - Optional reliability tip (Android)
To prevent delays, we recommend turning Battery Optimization and Background Restrictions off for both Gluroo and Dexcom G6/G7 app.
Safety reminder: For treatment decisions, always rely on the Dexcom G6/G7 app. Do not use the Follow app—or Gluroo—as your primary source for dosing.
If readings don’t show up after these steps, jump to the Troubleshooting section below.
Troubleshooting
Work through these in order:
- Verify Dexcom Share/Follow is working
Open the Dexcom Follow app and confirm you see live readings. If Follow isn’t receiving data, neither can Gluroo. If needed, try turning Share off/on in the G6/G7 app (under the Connections tab). Also check that followers are not “paused” – it will say “Sharing Paused” under their name if they are. And if they are paused, just tap their name and then tap “Continue Sharing”. - Check the connection status inside Gluroo.
In Gluroo > Menu > Settings > CGM, look under your Dexcom credentials for status/errors and resolve what it reports (you can also remove/reconnect). - Confirm the correct Dexcom login (User ID + password)
If login fails, make sure you’re using the Sharer’s Dexcom G7 credentials (not a Follower login). If your User ID is a mobile number, be sure to add your country code at the beginning. If you’re unsure of the credentials, reset your password in the Dexcom app (Profile > Account). You can also sanity-check by logging into Dexcom Clarity with the same account. If Follow is paused, Clarity will still receive data, but at least you’ll know that you’re using the right account information if you’re able to log in to Clarity. - Reduce OS-level background limits that can delay data
On Android:
- Turn Adaptive Battery off for both the Dexcom G7 app and Gluroo.
- Turn Battery Optimizing off and disable Background Restrictions for the Dexcom G7 app (and do the same for Gluroo). These settings can delay alerts and sharing if left on.
On iOS: - Keep Background App Refresh ON for Gluroo (and Dexcom apps) so they can check for updates when not open. Avoid force-quitting apps from the app switcher. Note: Low Power Mode reduces/disables background refresh.
Even with optimal settings, iOS/Android may occasionally suspend background tasks to save battery; brief delays can happen.
- Still stale or missing readings?
- Revisit Gluroo > Settings > CGM for any error text and follow the hint.
- Check Gluroo System Status to rule out a service issue, and peek at our Facebook user group for active updates.
