(New October 2026)
Short version: If you use Nightguard with Gluroo, do not update Nightguard to version 4.5.0. That release changed how Nightguard signs in to Nightscout-compatible servers, and it no longer works with Gluroo Global Connect (GGC). If you mainly use Nightguard to see your glucose on an Apple Watch, Gluroo’s own options below work better anyway.
What’s going on
Nightguard connects to Gluroo through Gluroo Global Connect (GGC), our Nightscout-compatible interface. Earlier versions of Nightguard sent your GGC secret in the URL (the ?token=... part). Starting with version 4.5.0, Nightguard drops that and sends the secret a different way, which GGC doesn’t accept.
After updating to 4.5.0 you may see:
- No glucose readings, or readings that stop updating, in Nightguard and its watch complications
- Errors such as “unauthorized” or “could not connect” in Nightguard’s settings
Nothing is wrong with your Gluroo account, your CGM connection, or your GGC URL. Gluroo itself keeps working normally; only Nightguard 4.5.0 is affected.
If you haven’t updated Nightguard yet
Stay on your current version. On iPhone, you can turn off automatic updates in Settings > App Store > App Updates so Nightguard (and other apps) only update when you choose.
If you already updated to 4.5.0
The App Store doesn’t let you go back to an older version of an app, so we recommend switching to one of Gluroo’s built-in ways to see your glucose:
- Apple Watch, any watch face: use the Gluroo Contact Complication. It works with any watch face and updates with every new CGM reading, which is often more up to date than Nightguard’s complications.
- Gluroo Apple Watch app: a Gluroo app for Apple Watch is coming soon, bundled with our next iOS update. We’ll update this page when it’s available.
- iPhone lock screen and widgets: see iOS Lock Screen Widget and CGM Display on iPhone Everywhere.
Will GGC support Nightguard 4.5.0?
We’re looking at it, but we can’t promise a date. Nightguard is a third-party app that Gluroo doesn’t make or test, and as the GGC page explains, third-party apps can change in ways that stop them working with GGC at any time. If anything changes, we’ll update this page.
Gluroo is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Nightguard or the Nightscout Project.
